Pistons: Simone Fontecchio
Jazz: Kevin Knox, WAS 2024 2nd
Grade: B+
The Pistons filled one of their biggest needs by landing the 6'8" wing from the Jazz. Fontecchio struggled in his first NBA season last year, but worked his way into the Jazz starting lineup this season with strong shooting, great cutting and much improved defense. Fontecchio will be a restricted FA after the season but I would expect the Pistons to sign him to a multi-year deal this summer.
Trade 2
Pistons: Shake Milton, Troy Brown, 2030 2nd rd pick
T'Wolves: Monte Morris
Grade: C
Meh. The Pistons recoup the 2nd rd pick they gave up to get Morris before the season began and pick up a couple young vets with non-guaranteed contracts next season. Both Milton and Brown should find themselves in the Pistons rotation with a chance to play their way into getting their contracts guaranteed for next year.
Trade 3
Pistons: Quentin Grimes, Evan Fournier, Malachi Flynn, Ryan Arcidacono, 2 future 2nd rd picks
Knicks: Bojan Bogdanovic, Alec Burks
Grade: D-
I love that the Pistons picked up a good young G/F in Grimes that can both shoot and play good D but the rest of the return is majorly underwhelming. Taking on the contract of Malchi Flynn to help NY sneak under the tax line should of been worth a 2nd rd pick or two on its own. Once again Troy failed to get back the heavily protected Pistons 1st rd pick the Knicks own (or any of the other 6 first round picks NY could trade) when he had the leverage to do so.
Trade 4:
Pistons: Danuel House, NY 2024 2nd rd pick
Sixers: Cash
Grade C-
Troy made use of the TPE from the Bagley trade to land a 2nd rounder for taking House's contract from the Sixers, but landed a pick that likely will be bottom 5 in what is considered a very weak draft. House was immediately released
